The Heart's Journey Home ~ A Collection of poems by Natalie Ducey
The Heart’s Journey Home by Natalie Ducey

I never imagined that I would become a published writer. I have loved the idea of writing – choosing words and weaving them together to capture a moment, claiming its place it time; but I never imagined I’d release my work into the world. So, when I published my first book of poetry “The Heart’s Journey Home” in February 2015, I stepped miles outside of my comfort zone.

With a BA in Psychology, I have had the privilege of working in the Counselling field for the past 15 years. Through my work and personal journey, I have witnessed the remarkable power of the human spirit. Now, as an author and writer, I am passionate about stories that touch the heart and awaken the soul.

I believe we are connected by similar and relatable experiences.  We all love/loved deeply and most likely have been on both sides of goodbye. We know the immobilizing force of grief; we experienced hardships that have brought tears, revelations, and self-discoveries of strength unknown. It’s astounding how resilient we can be, when truly tested.

The Heart’s Journey Home is poetry for the soul. ♥

The Heart’s Journey Home is a collection of poems that capture the essence of the fragility and the resiliency of our hearts – the brilliant beauty of life’s journey.

Life: it’s very complex. It’s full of pain and sorrow, but it is also full of love and happiness. How does one express these deep emotions? How does one put down in words the passage of time, the meaning of life itself? It is a difficult task, but Canadian poet Natalie Ducey has just the words to accomplish this task….

Using metaphors and similes, rhyming verse and free verse, Natalie has opened her heart to the renderings of the human spirit, the human soul. Cleverly presented; words that need repeated study and reflection.

  1. Wow Natalie! I was just going to bed, when, as I always do, I checked my mails, and saw that your party has already started. Good for me! Now, I am the early bird, and I get to eat the fattest worm. :D. I loved your book of poetry. I hope others do too. Have a wonderful day. Enjoy your party. :).

  2. Hi, Natalie! I am so not happy that you let Joy thru the door first! I was running so fast to get here, to be first, and I tripped over my own two feet, just as I noticed Joy skipping inside. Darnit! Darnit! Darnit! Thank goodness there was good poetry waiting for me when I finally got up off the ground and made it thru the door, or there would have been a different kind of party in this place today!

Thanks, Natalie! I enjoyed reading your poetry…even though JOY BEAT ME THRU THE DOOR FIRST!

  12. Natalie,
I can identify so strongly with your reasons for writing — I share them. Writing should be uplifting and inspire every reader to go on living, keep struggling, loving, losing. You are particularly courageous to write and publish poetry in this age of tweets, sound-bites, and photo-ops. Hope today brings you lots of new readers and fans!

    1. Thank you, Helena. Writing poetry was my saving grace in 2014. I’m a rather private person, so publishing it was a milestone for me. My twin sister encouraged me to share it. No regrets. 🙂
Oh my gosh…other than Facebook, all other media forms came after I published. Learning it was a little overwhelming, but fun too. Keeping up with it all is the challenge now!

  19. hey… thanks for posting… the first lines I ever committed to paper were for a poem, as my mother taught me rhyming and such… and I loved it… with dyslexia, poems were the shortened versions of the stories dying to escape… that’s why I started calling poetry my ‘life-tool’ while in college (you know, all those texts, all those words, scrambled before my eyes)… now I consider poetry, novels, all writing, infact, all art, to be ‘Life-Tools’… I am glad to see that your talent has added to the beautiful wordage to be found in this Life

    1. That’s so awesome to hear, Tracey! Writing was my saving grace in 2014. It’s a powerful healer, indeed. I love your term “Life-Tools”…you nailed it! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Cheers. 🙂

  20. What a lovely post, Natalie! Your gift of Mighty Heart is precious, thank you very much. It warms my heart as surely as it stirs awareness. I’ve enjoyed your Party immensely, and I’m ever so grateful. Have a fantastic day!

  21. My first love in writing was poetry so i really appreciate your post. I don’t know why but poetry is seldom promoted nowadays. Wishing you best of luck with writing lovely poems!

    1. Thank you kindly for stopping by with such kind and encouraging words.:)
I’m not sure why it’s seldom promoted. Some book sites don’t even have the category. That really surprised me!
I try to be creative and make it visually appealing as well. I use Pinterest quite a bit. I have fun with it. 🙂

  22. Hello Natalie. So pleased to meet you. Love your site! Inspiring and informative all in one place! Your book cover is beautiful. Stunning. Thanks for sharing “Might Heart”. Beautiful and vivid. Cheers! S.J. Francis
