If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know as a content creator, I love to share informative content and resources. This is a feature I love so, yup, I’m sharing!
With Canva’s Group feature, we can easily group elements to copy and/or duplicate. This is an awesome feature because some designs can contain so many elements that moving them individually can be a tedious, time-consuming task. Using the Group feature makes it super easy.
For this tutorial, I used a calendar that has 40 individual elements. Without the group feature, it would be time consuming to move each element. This is where Canva’s intuitive design solves the problem. Design made easy. It nails it!
In this blog post, we’ll cover the following:
- How to Group & Copy Elements in Canva
- How to Group & Duplicate Elements in Canva
- How to Ungroup and Edit Elements Individually
- How to Select Individual Elements and Group in Canva
I’ve included my short How-To Video below, if you’d like to follow along that way.
How to Group and Copy Multiple Elements together in Canva.
Canva is my go-to design tool for social media graphics. With its easy-to-use templates, we can easily design graphics for social media, marketing material, and so much more. And the features are amazing!
If you have a Canva account, you’re good to go. If you’re new to Canva, you can easily create a free account here, or use the link below.
Okay, let’s get started.
Group & Copy Elements
First, we’ll go through the steps to Group and Copy elements.
Drag your cursor over the elements you want to group. Then click on Group in the toolbar editor.
Right click on your Grouped Elements and select Copy.
Place cursor in the desired location, then Right click and select Paste.
JACKPOT: You can do this within the template you’re using and/or open another design and paste it there.
This is a fantastic feature for easy and efficient design while using multiple templates.
To Ungroup and Edit, please follow the steps later in this post.
Group & Duplicate Elements
Next, we’ll go through the steps to Group and Duplicate elements.
Drag your cursor over the elements you want to group. Then click on Group in the toolbar editor.
Next, click on the + icon to duplicate.
TIP: If you don’t see the + icon, just click on the … three horizontal dots and it will appear.
Drag and drop your duplication to the desired location.
NOTE: The duplicate method can only be applied in the design file you’re working in.
How to Ungroup and Edit Elements Individually
After you’ve copied or duplicated your grouped elements and placed it in the new location, you can easily edit any of the elements.
To edit individual elements, click on Ungroup.
Next, click outside your grouped elements to see the Ungrouping take effect.
Then you can click on individual elements to edit.
How to Select Individual Elements and Group in Canva.
You can also select individual elements and group them together.
To do so, hold the Shift key on your keyboard, and click on the elements you’d like to group. Then click on Group.
And we’re done!
If you haven’t been using this feature in Canva, I hope this post encourages you to do so. It’s a fantastic intuitive tool to quickly create and edit our designs.
