We can easily create an animated logo with a free Canva account, or trial Canva Pro 30 days for free!
Let’s jump in. ♥
Once you’re logged into Canva, go to Templates > Business > Logo, as displayed in the image below.
You’ll see a large variety of logo templates to choose from. There are hundreds of free templates to use.
You can narrow your search by using the category tabs listed above the designs.
When you find a logo template you like, just click on it and it will display as below. To use the template you just need to click on Use this Template. You can see the design details for the colour palette and fonts used.
Once your template opens, you can begin customizing your design. There are so many options to create a beautiful logo that reflects your brand. In the image below, you can see that once I click on any element, I can edit text, colour, font style, font size, etc.
We can change the background colour. To keep things simple, I’m just going to use a logo I’m working on. Just know that there are so many options to design a personalized logo. Make it unique. Make it yours! ♥
To the left, you can see other logo templates, too. So many templates! Have fun with it.
You can edit all the elements by clicking on them. You can easily replace them with another element. You can also upload graphics you’d like to use, as well.
When you click on the Elements section on the far left side of the screen, you’ll see hundreds of possibilities. You can also search for specific items using the Search icons and shapes option!
You’ll see the Animate option located at the top of the screen, as displayed in the image above. If you don’t see it, no biggie. Just click on the background of your design and then click on Animate.
With the free version of Canva, you’ll have five animated options to choose from. If you’d like a different effect with full access to all Canva’s features, you can trial Canva Pro for free for 30 days. Awesome! ♥
In the image above, you can see that I chose the Rise Animation Effect. We can also change the timing of the effect. It defaults to five seconds.
We’re almost done! ♥
The final step is downloading our logo design.
To the right, you’ll see the Download arrow. For animation, it’s suggested that we download it as an MP4 Video.
When you click the down arrow for File Type, you’ll see all the options available.
It’s my preference to download it as a GIF. It’s a smaller file, but I use the MP4 when needed. Just keep in mind that you can easily download the file in all formats!
*PNG is the best choice for most web uses because it produces a higher quality image than other file formats. Also, it offers the added benefit of creating a transparent background which is great for using your logo in multiple ways avoiding colour clashes.
Unfortunately, access to the transparency option is not available with the free plan. You can access this feature using Canva Pro.
If you click on the three horizontal dots located to the right of the Download Arrow, you’ll see more options for downloading and sharing, as well.
If you choose Download, you’ll find the file in your Download folder.
And we’re done! ♥
