Poetry

10 Nov

It’s with a humble and most grateful heart that I’d like to share the poem LEST WE FORGET. May we collectively honour all past and present serving members and respectfully show our profound gratitude for their service and sacrifice. ♥

LEST WE FORGET

LEST WE FORGET

They answered the call
With mighty hearts, they took a stand
In the pursuit of liberty
They died on foreign land.

Those that made it home
Carry a burden within their soul
More years behind them now
Yet stories remain untold.

We may never understand it
Few hearts can comprehend
The courage one must possess
To rise and take a stand.

So I ask of you this
Dear friends and family
How will you remember
This most earnest legacy?

Will you bow your head in silence?
Offer a silent prayer?
Let’s honour all they’ve sacrificed
For the freedoms we hold dear.

Indeed John! Great tribute to our heroes, who go out there, risk their lives, to defend us. Thank you Natalie for honoring them :D.

Thank you, Mae! My husband is a soldier and served in Afghanistan and other overseas missions. During the Afghanistan mission we lost 158 soldiers. So many were from Petawawa. The sorrow runs deep in our town. So very grateful to all who served and served today.

So thankful for your husband’s service, Natalie, and so sorrowful for those lives that were lost. My dad served during WWII in the Pacific theatre. Someday, hopefully, we will be able to put wars behind us. In the meantime, as you said….so very grateful to all who served and who serve today!

Natalie Ducey

As a multi-passionate creator my heart is rooted in storytelling, self-expression, and soulful connection. I’m a writer of poetry that journeys the deep emotional landscapes of life—the vulnerability and valour of the soul.
My creativity extends beyond the page. I love creating soothing, sweet melodic melodies. Where the silence between the notes soothes the soul, and the tenor and tone seem to transcend time. I find comfort and joy in the art of crochet, and the free artistic expression of graphic design—each medium offering a unique way to inspire, uplift, and connect with others on their own creative journeys.
Nature is my sanctuary. In its tranquil beauty and quiet wisdom, I find restoration, reflection, and a deeper connection to the soul. It’s where I return to breathe, to listen, and to simply be.
This space is a celebration of creativity in all its forms. Creativity, for me, is more than expression—it is transformation. It is how we return to ourselves. Whether you’ve arrived here for a spark of inspiration, a moment of peace, or a sense of belonging—I welcome you!
